Two students including Nguyen Duy Khanh and Le Minh Nhat from the Honors Program, Faculty of Information Technology - University of Science (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh), had an article about Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning published in the Neural Computing and Applications Journal (Springer Publishing House). This is a prestigious international scientific journal ranked Q1 in the ISI category with a high Impact Factor (IF) of 5.606.
(Published scientific papers on Q1 Journal / Le Minh Nhat - Honors Program 2017 - Faculty of Information Technology / Nguyen Duy Khanh - Honors Program 2017 - Faculty of Information Technology / Article “Global-local attention for emotion recognition” on Neural Computing and Application Journal (Springer Publishing House))
The article is titled “Global-local attention for emotion recognition”. It focuses on solving the problem of recognizing human emotions from images, which utilizes facial expressions to support extracting important parts in predicting emotions using the attention mechanism. By efficiently extracting and combining information from the face and the surrounding contexts, the proposed model achieves a better result in comparison with the best previous-published models (state-of-the-art) both qualitatively and quantitatively.
The research work is guided by Prof. Dr. Le Hoai Bac - Head of the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Information Technology, University of Science, and Dr. Nguyen Quang Anh - Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool (England), an alumnus of the University of Science.
The Neural Computing and Applications Journal publishes original research in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Intelligent System. Since this is a prestigious international journal, the confirmation and review process is strictly hard. In the case of this paper, the process takes 1 year to confirm from the submission date up to the acceptance date.
