About the Topic:

The increasing societal demand for transparency in intelligent systems is undeniable. Businesses, institutions, and individual users are more than ever keen on grasping the rationale behind AI model predictions. In certain jurisdictions, there's also a legal shift towards mandating the interpretability of these intelligent systems. This seminar offers a comprehensive overview of research in Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), with a particular emphasis on Natural Language Processing (NLP). The seminar seeks to address the following "What" questions:

• How are XAI models for NLP classified?

• Which primary techniques are employed for XAI in NLP?

• What kind of information do these techniques leverage for explanations, and how are these explanations presented?

• How is the distribution of these explanation techniques across the previously mentioned categories?

* P/S: Due to time limitations, this seminar will not venture into the "How" questions. The intricate processing methods of each explanation technique will be the focus of a subsequent seminar.
