DiscoverNUS Program - National University of Singapore

The Office of International Relations is delighted to introduce you to the DiscoverNUS Program at the National University of Singapore (NUS). This exceptional program offers an opportunity for students from NUS partner universities in Southeast Asia to embark on a one-semester academic journey at NUS. Selected students will enjoy a waiver of their tuition fees for the program at NUS. Upon successful completion of the DiscoverNUS program, students will also have the privilege to apply for the NUS ASEAN Master's Scholarship Programme. Here are the comprehensive details:


  1. Duration: 1 semester, from January to May 2024. 

  2. Quantity: 2 students. 

  3. Location: NUS, Singapore. 

  4. Benefits: 

  • Tuition fee waiver for the NUS program, with students responsible for other expenses such as accommodation, transportation, meals, student services fees, and health insurance. 

  • After participating in the DiscoverNUS program, students in their final year of undergraduate studies can apply for a 1-year master's scholarship program at NUS - NUS ASEAN Master’s Scholarship Programme. These students will have the opportunity to receive a full tuition fee waiver. The maximum quota is 5 students per academic year.

  1. Eligibility:

  • Must be a third-year student (for 4-year programs) or a fourth-year student (for 5-year programs) when participating in the exchange semester at NUS (from January to May 2024).

  • Must have a major relevant to the field of study they wish to pursue at NUS (see attached list).

  • Must have outstanding academic achievements.

  • Actively participate in extracurricular activities and community service.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in English (e.g., IELTS 6.5 or higher or TOEFL iBT 100 or higher).

  • Commitment to completing the program.

  1. Important notes: 

  • Before applying, students should carefully review the following information to determine their suitability for the program:

  • Upon completing the program, students can request NUS to provide a copy of their academic transcript for the courses taken at NUS..

  • After completing the DiscoverNUS program, students are strongly encouraged to apply for the NUS master's program. Selected students will receive a full tuition fee waiver. Detailed information about the program will be announced by NUS at a later date.

  1. Application documents:

  • A résumé in English, providing the following information:

  • Educational background, including high school name and average score, and current university name and average score.

  • Work experience, leadership roles, volunteer work.

  • Extracurricular activities (clubs, sports activities, etc.).

  • Academic awards or scholarships received in high school or university (if any).

  • English language proficiency (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS).

  • Other relevant information, such as foreign languages or special talents (if any).

  • The most recent academic transcript in Vietnamese and its English translation, dated within 30 days as of August 30, 2023, confirmed by the educational institution.

  • A copy of the passport information page (no need for notarization).

  • A copy of the English language proficiency certificate (no need for notarization).

  • Evidence of extracurricular activities and community service.

  • Certificates or awards for academic achievements (if any).

  1. Application process: 

Students should submit a hard copy of their application to the Office of Academic Affairs and Training Quality Assurance (F.105, 227 Nguyen Van Cu Street, District 5) and send a soft copy of their application to the email address internationalrelations@hcmus.edu.vn by the deadline of August 28, 2023.
